I was reminded of the study of The Names of God and Jehovah-Jireh. The first mention of this name of God is in Genesis 22 where Abraham is commanded by God to sacrifice his son Isaac. This is also the chapter where the first mention of the word "love" occurs (Gen. 22:2) What I was reminded of was that the Hebrew word jireh means "to see". So how does "to see" become "provide". It's all in understanding the meaning of the words.
Provide comes from (in a round-about way) the Latin word video which means prevision. Now we're getting there. Provision means to see beforehand. So here it is:
As Jehovah-Jireh, what God has Prevision of- He makes Provision for. Isn't that cool? So basically what this means is:
For God to See is for God to provide!!
Now, here's the down to earth, nitty-gritty truth though. I'm looking for some big-time provision of my Jehovah-Jireh. Do I see it? NO! I have seen God's provision many times in the past, but today it's just not there. I know He sees because I believe He is omniscient. He knows everything. So before I despair or think that my God has failed me; I must remember that He is providing! That provision just doesn't look like I thought it would; or not enough time has elapsed to be in His Time.
And of course we must always remember that His provision is always geared to His glory and our growth.
In the mean time;
we must do what Abraham did.
We must do exactly the next step God directs us to do; not jumping
ahead or lagging behind.
OBEDIENCE IS THE KEY TO PROVISION. I question myself. Are you being OBEDIENT to the heavenly vision, Lanita?? How about you today? Do you too need some Big-God Provision? Go to Mt Moriah to see your Jehovah-Jireh--The-Lord-Will-Provide!!
